N JOI October 1992 - Warehouse Porte de la Chapelle - The 'phantom' night

Big thanks to the Phantom organisation for this dream rave. Usually the glass is always half empty or half plenty. Wether it’s ace lasers, strobes, fumes and boring music or great sounds and crap surroundings. But for once we had both of both worlds in this big warehouse with approximatively 4000 people gathered dancing their head off. Everything was in the right place, lasers, strobes, fumes, big screens with psychedelic projections, futuristic dancers on the stage making moves under white sheets. This was scary! Huh ! … the successfull meeting of the seventies and the nineties ! A little personnal dispointment : only one single piano break and also bouncers searching people very meticulously. I had seven pockets and the bouncers search all them pockets, even in me hood. So we get in very very sloooooowly under the pouuuuuuring rain ... who called me sissy boy? N Joi played at 5 am and that was something, well fuck me when they got into ‘malfunction’ or 'anthem'. They were great (yeah the dancers were a bit kitsch). Ralphee Dee wasn’t a great dj but he’s a good producer and a good selector. Diversity makes a good night, thank you kids!


Un grand merci à Phantom pour cette soirée qui avait l’air d’un rêve. Généralement, c’est soit l’un soit l’autre : les lasers et tout le tralala et une musique chiante ou de la bonne sik et un cadre à chier. Là pour une fois, on avait les deux réunis dans cet entrepôt énorme qui a attiré près de 4000 personnes. Lasers, strobes, fumigènes, écrans géants avec images psyché, danseuses futuristes et kitsch à mourir … la symbiose des 70’s et des 90’s réussie ! Petit reproche, un seul break piano apprécié mais esseulé et une fouille méticuleuse. J’avais sept poches, le videur a fouillé les sept et même ma capuche, c’est vous dire qu’on s’est pas pressé pour entrer sous le déluge de pluie qui nous tombait sur la gueule … quoi quoi mauviette ! N JOI sont passés à 5h00 du mat et c’était quelque chose, argh quand ils balancent « malfunction » ou "anthem", vraiment excellent (bon les danseurs hum ok ?) Ralphee Dee n’est pas un grand dj mais ça n’ote rien à ses talents de producteur. Vous nous avez gaté continuez dans la diversité kids
