MEGADOG June 1993 - London Brixton academy - The 'crust never sleep' night

J'étais un peu triste qu'aucun de mes amis ne se soit joint à moi pour cet évènement, mais c'était vraiment trop tentant pour que je n'y aille pas alors j'y suis allé tout seul. Imaginez, Orbital, Drum club, Underworld, Aphex twin, Spooky, Psychic warriors of gaia, transglobal underground et Eat static live avec plein de djs, de boutiques etc.

Brixton academy ... la queue ... à l'intérieur ... cool ... les gens allongés par terre sur le sol de l'academy comme à un festival. Orbital furent une putain de révélation, si forts, si pro ils tiennent la comparaison avec n'importe quel groupe de rock. Bien meilleur que la plus part. Spooky et Underworld surtout étaient grands aussi. Drum club se la joue plus sans concession, Eat static avec leurs danseurs crust, Aphex twin avec son danseur fou et la principale attraction qui demeurait PWOG. Magic, en ligne en face du public assénant quelques superbes et envoutantes rythmiques tribalo hypnotiques. Le matin ... les rues de Londres ... 4 heures, j'erre ... attendant le premier train pour Paris à 8h00 ... entre les clodos bourrés et les ado trash au bout de la nuit ... me souvenant la toute première fois ou je suis venu à Londres en 89 ... les gens qui criaient "acid" dans la rue ... un mec qui dansait seul sur un morceau d'acid house à un concert de rock ... contre tous ... sans aucune peur ... c'était si fort.


I was sad none of my friends joined me to go to this event but it was too strong to hold me back so I went on my own specially. Imagine Orbital, Drum club, Underworld, Aphex twin, Spooky, Psychic warriors of gaia, Transglobal underground and Eat static live with many djs, shops etc!

Brixton academy ... queueing ... inside ... coolness ... people sat on the ground in the Academy hall, kind of festival vibe. Orbital were a hell of a revelation, so strong, so professionnal, they stand the comparison with any rock bands. Better than most of them. Spooky and particulary Underworld were great too. Drum club were without any concessions, Eat static with their crusty dancers, Aphex twin with his mad dancer but the main attraction remained PWOG; magic; standing in line in front of the crowd, with some really fucked up hypnotic tribal sounds. In the morning ... London streets ... 4am wandering ... waiting for the first train at 8am ... between drunk yobs and wild teens ... remembering when I came to London for the very first time in 89 ... people screaming 'acid' in the streets ... a guy dancing on an acid house alone at a rock concert ... against all the ohers ... without fear ... it was so strong
