Quelques temps avant ce concert, les New Fads donnaient une sorte de petit concert unplugged au Virgin local. Comme ils avaient l'air sympathique, j'ai vaincu ma timidité pour leur demander quand ils joueraient à Paris. "Bientôt" me dire-t-ils : "nous jouons dans un endroit qui s'appelle la Locomotive, mais tous les autres groupes qui ont joué là nous ont dit que c'était très bizarre, que les gens n'avaient pas l'air heureux".
La Manchester academy était archi bondée pour ce concert transformé en rave, réunissant sans doute plus de 2000 personnes. Tout le monde danse. Le groupe dégage une énergie hors du commun et contrairement à plein de groupes baggy, ils savent jouer. Quelques temps plus tard les New Fads joueront effectivement à la Loco. Il n'y avait pas foule et personne n'a dansé, les gens les regardaient sans bouger, presque honteusement ...
A few days before the concert, the New Fads were giving a little unplugged representation in the local Virgin shop. As they look sympathetic, I dare to ask them if they would play in Paris. "Soon" they respond, "We'll play in a place called La Locomotive, but all the bands who played there told us it's weird with deadpan looking people all over the place".
The Manchester academy hall was crowded with more than 2000 people, the whole place going totally nuts turning the gig in a sort of big rave. The band was very energetic and they were able to play unlike many others baggy bands. A few months later the New Fads really played the Locomotive. It wasn't crowded, nobody moved a leg, people staring at the band, deadpan ...
